SNMP Settings allowing more than one SNMPv3 credential
Summary
Tenable products have the ability to scan SNMP ports for software detection and the identification of certain vulnerabilities. Early versions of SNMP did not have robust access control and authentication, but starting in SNMPv3 customers have been able to use both encryption and authentication to connect to SNMP services. Tenable scans have been able to support a single SNMPv3 credential for a given scan or scan template, until now. Tenable products will soon support trying multiple SNMPv3 credentials until one of them works.
Change
Tenable products will soon have the ability to specify more than one credential for SNMPv3. Customers not using SNMPv3 credentials will notice no difference. Customers using a single SNMPv3 credential will notice no immediate difference. Customers choosing to add multiple SNMPv3 credentials will see their Tenable scans attempt all of the credentials in turn until one of them works, and then that credential will be used for the remainder of SNMP connections within a scan.
